'Victory party': Netanyahu seeks White House meeting with Trump to 'celebrate' Iran war 'success'

Benjamin Netanyahu is looking to meet Donald Trump at the White House in the coming weeks to "celebrate" their "success" in the recent conflict with Iran, in particular the joint bombing by the two countries of the nuclear facilities of their common foe, Israeli officials have said.

"There is a mutual interest from both sides of doing a victory party after the war with Iran," one Israeli official told US website Axios.

According to two other Israeli officials, initial discussions have already taken place between the Israeli leader's advisers and the White House regarding a potential visit. However, they added that no date has been set yet.

Another Israeli official said Netanyahu's visit could take place the second week of July.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that Netanyahu expressed interest in coming to the White House, and that Trump is open to the visit.

However, Leavitt, too, noted that no final date has been set.

In February, Netanyahu became the first world leader to meet Trump at the White House in the latter's second term. They met at the same place in April as well.
