NEW DELHI: A distressing incident at a government primary school in Uttar Pradesh has triggered outrage after a 7-year-old boy, Gaurav, was found with his neck stuck between iron bars of a window, locked inside the school after being accidentally left behind by staff.
The incident occurred at Primary School Tajganj Fasiya in Agra. According to reports, Gaurav had fallen asleep inside the classroom and was overlooked during the school’s closing routine. When he woke up and found himself locked in, he attempted to escape through a window and got trapped by the neck.
The boy remained stuck for nearly an hour until local children playing cricket nearby heard his cries. One of them, while retrieving a ball from the school premises, spotted Gaurav and raised the alarm. Villagers quickly rushed in and broke open the main gate to rescue the child.
A video showing the terrified boy crying for help while stuck in the window has gone viral on social media. Shared on X (formerly Twitter), it has already garnered over 1,700 views and growing reactions.
The incident has sparked questions about the school's safety protocols, with many demanding accountability for the gross negligence. Authorities are yet to issue an official response.
