MUMBAI: A fire broke out in a 24-storey residential tower in Dahisar East on Sunday afternoon, civic officials said.
The blaze was reported around 3 pm on the seventh floor of New Janakalyan Society at Shanti Nagar .
One woman has died and 18 are injured in the deadly fire accident, officials confirmed.
The high-rise was heavily smoke-logged, posing challenges for firefighters engaged in rescue and containment operations. At least seven fire engines, along with other emergency response vehicles, were rushed to the spot.
Officials said that the fire has been brought under control. The exact cause of the blaze is yet to be ascertained.
