Official Streaming Date Announced for 'A Minecraft Movie'

Having ruled the world box office since its theatrical release on April 4, A Minecraft Movie will now be coming into homes, allowing fans to witness the epic blocky adventure from the comfort of their couches. Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment has announced that the movie will be available for streaming on digital premium video on demand from Tuesday, May 13.

With Jack Black and Jason Momoa starring, the film is taking after Mojang Studios' legendary sandbox game to theaters, already breaking boundaries in cinemas, and now comes this digital version which would see the movie in the hands of an even wider audience.

And for those who do not get enough of the movie via streaming or download and that's not to say they're not collectors in the least, 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD copies of the movie will also hit the stores on June 24. The economically priced editions will also feature a number of behind-the-scenes extras exclusive to the editions to enrich the immersive universe of the film.


Special features include:

  • Building the World of Minecraft: Block Party: This behind-the-scenes look discusses how production designer Grant Major and his team achieved bringing the Overworld of Minecraft to life on screen through practical effects and some digital wizardry.
  • Creepers, Zombies, and Endermen: This takes viewers on an exclusive journey with the fans' favorite mobs. It talks about the design, animation, and incredible visual effects that made them seem alive.
  • Block Beats: Behind the music, with the voices and songs of Jack Black, Jason Momoa, and Danielle Brooks, reveals how the score infused emotion and energy into the film.
They are this ragtag band that accidentally gets teleported to the Minecraft universe and has to battle classic in-game opponents like zombies, piglins, and endermen in order to find their way home. It is an action-packed, heartwarming, and funny movie that resonates with all age groups, especially the fans of this game.


With its digital launch on the horizon and competition from upcoming releases, A Minecraft Movie may soon begin tapering its theatrical dominance. Still, its strong fanbase and impressive momentum suggest the film will continue to thrive on digital platforms.
