WADA's Second I&I Workshop Concludes in India

India, in collaboration with WADA, INTERPOL, and Sport Integrity Australia, hosted the second WADA I&I Workshop to build global intelligence and investigative capabilities in the fight against doping.

In a significant move to advance the global fight against doping in sports, the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) India, supported by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, hosted the second edition of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Intelligence & Investigations (I&I) Workshop from 21 to 25 July 2025 in New Delhi. The event brought together intelligence professionals and law enforcement representatives from across South and Southeast Asia under the aegis of WADA and in partnership with INTERPOL and Sport Integrity Australia.

Participants from India, Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Nepal, Myanmar, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Brunei Darussalam, and the Philippines joined in-depth discussions and training sessions. The five-day workshop focused on key areas such as intelligence-led investigations, managing confidential sources, open-source intelligence, analytical methods, and strategic interviews—all aimed at improving anti-doping vigilance and operational effectiveness.

Shri Hari Ranjan Rao, Secretary (Sports), emphasized the importance of international cooperation, stating: We sincerely value WADA’s initiative, organized in partnership with INTERPOL and Sport Integrity Australia. Their expertise and dedication are playing a vital role in advancing the global mission to safeguard clean and fair sport.

NADA Director General Shri Anant Kumar highlighted the regional significance:
“This second workshop, after our successful first session in May, marks another vital milestone in WADA’s I&I Capability and Capacity Building Project and reinforces efforts to strengthen GAIIN.”

WADA’s Director of I&I, Günter Younger, commended India’s pivotal role, stating:
“The workshops hosted in India are instrumental in enhancing anti-doping investigative capabilities and strengthening collaboration between National Anti-Doping Organizations and law enforcement agencies throughout Asia and Oceania.”

This workshop forms a vital part of WADA’s flagship Capability and Capacity Building Project, aimed at strengthening the Global Anti-Doping Intelligence and Investigations Network (GAIIN) through international collaboration, knowledge sharing, and strategic information exchange. India’s active participation in hosting the event underscores its strong commitment to promoting clean sport. The concluding workshop in this series is set to take place in April 2026.
