Overwatch 2 x Street Fighter release date, new skins and gameplay

Overwatch 2 developer Blizzard is teaming up with for a brand new crossover event.

The x Street Fighter event has a May 20 release date. While there's no official launch time, history suggests that the new Street Fighter rewards will be available from 5pm BST UK time.

As part of the new event, Street Fighter characters will join Overwatch 2 in the form of new skins such as Chun Li, Guile, Blanka and M Bison.

As you can see from the screenshots below, other Street Fighter characters coming to Overwatch 2 include Ryu, Juri, Cammy, and Dhalsim.

In addition to costumes, the Street Fighter crossover brings various animations and other visual effects to Overwatch 2.

Blizzard explains more: "In one corner, you've got Juno channeling the lightning-fast kicks of Chun-Li, Kiriko unleashing pure chaos as Juri, Widowmaker moving with the silent precision of Cammy, and Hanzo bringing calm fury as Ryu.

"Add Zenyatta floating free with Dhalsim's meditative might, Soldier: 76 dropping in with that classic Guile energy, Sigma powered up with M.Bison's raw intensity, and Winston going full beast mode as Blanka in the other corner, and you've got a roster built to take to the streets.

"Each skin is lovingly crafted with nods to iconic moves, stances, and personalities, down to the smallest details to hit every beat."

The new characters will be available as part of various bundles, including one "Ultra" bundle containing all skins.

There's also the Street Fighter 6 Mega Bundle 1, which contains Juno as Chun-Li, Hanzo as Ryu, Zenyatta as Dhalsim and Epic Sigma as M.Bison.

The Street Fighter Mega Bundle 2, on the other hand, features Legendary Kiriko as Juri, Widowmaker as Cammy, Winston as Blanka and Soldier: 76 as Guile.

Furthermore, individual skins will be available to purchase separately, which means you can buy one or two of your favourites.

Finally, the Overwatch x Street Fighter event gives users the chance to earn 40,000 XP, as well as exclusive themed sprays, voice lines and a Street Fighter player title.

The Street Fighter skins will be available from May 20 until June 2.
