A CNN grilling turned into a car crash when Donald Trump's Homeland Security adviser Stephen Miller stopped suddenly in the middle of a sentence, with his face "dropping". CNN anchor Boris Sanchez was asking him about the fact a judge has blocked the US president from sending troops to Portland, Oregon, from California.
Sanchez asked: "You've called the district judge's ruling, locking the deployment of National Guard in Oregon 'illegal insurrection'. Does the administration still plan to abide by that ruling?" Miller seemed keen to answer the question, replying immediately: "Well the administration filed an appeal this morning with the Ninth Circuit.
"I would note the administration won an identical case in the Ninth Circuit just a few months ago with respect to the federalising of the California National Guard. Under Title 10 of the US code, the president has plenary authority, has-"
He suddenly cut himself off but remained on-screen - leading viewers to believe he had "said something he shouldn't have".
Meanwhile Sanchez was trying to take control of the situation, responding: "Stephen? Stephen? Hey Stephen, can you hear me? It- Stephen, I apologise, it seems like we're having a technical issue. We'll try to fix that and get back to you after a quick break. Stay with CNN."
Viewers on Reddit were left baffled, with one posting: "Since people keep asking, 'a plenary power or plenary authority is a complete and absolute power to take action on a particular issue, with no limitations.' There it is. That's why he stopped talking, because he's not supposed to admit anything like that, and keep in mind who has been openly saying the most fascist sh** in this administration."
Another said: "They switched bro off remotely!"
A third penned: "Why didn't the anchor immediately pick him up in what he just said, as opposed to apologise for Miller's own glitching out?!"
The chilling moment was cut from the final CNN broadcast - leaving fans even more confused.
