Making a delicious pasta at home is a go-to meal for many Brits but there's one item that could add a healthy twist. By adding this tasty 80p item to your meal, you can not only bump up its nutritional value but you can also create a creamier flavour and texture to your meal.
Mushrooms can be purchased from Asda for just 80p and they're a great way to add some variety into your meal. Heathline says: "Mushrooms can bring a creamy taste and texture to pasta dishes, along with a host of health benefits.
"Though the exact nutritional content can vary depending on the specific type, most mushrooms contain a good amount of vitamin D, an important nutrient that isn't found naturally in many food sources.
"If you're feeling creative, try experimenting with your favorite varieties of mushrooms - such as portobello, cremini, shiitake, oyster, or white mushrooms - and adding them to your pasta alongside other toppings, like goat cheese, spinach, or fresh lemon juice."
To make a tasty dish, you'll need minimal ingredients. You can use any type of long strand or even short stand pasta you want (like orecchiette, penne, ziti, macaroni).
You could create your mushroom pasta dish with butter, garlic and parmesan which pair nicely with the vegetable.

Recipe Tin Eats says the best way to add mushrooms to your pasta is to sauté them first.
It says: "So I used to think that the best way to sauté mushrooms was with loads and loads of butter or olive oil.
"As you sauté the mushrooms, they start to leech water, creating moisture. But still! That first layer of mushrooms lucky enough to hit the skillet first stole all the butter, leaving the remaining 80% of mushrooms butter free!
"In a bid to even out the butteriness of mushrooms, my solution is to reduce the amount of butter melted in the skillet, add a bit of olive oil."
It suggests that after the mushrooms are golden, you should then add a small amount of butter.
If you're looking to change up your usual pasta dish, adding mushrooms could be the perfect way to enhance flavour and add some variety to your meal.
