Spanish holiday hotspot is the most expensive place I've ever been - it will bankrupt you

A Brit has issued a warning to tourists heading to a popular Spanish holiday hotspot that it will "bankrupt you". In a now viral TikTok video @prof_thought slammed Marbella as "the most expensive place he has ever been to in his entire life".

In the video, which has amassed nearly 200k views, the dad claims that getting a table at a beach club will set you back a whopping £1.5k for a couple of hours. He adds that he doesn't see "much point in going there". The TikToker says two single rum and cokes cost him 36 euros (£30.76).

He added that the popular resort is expensive for those who don't have an alcoholic drink with two standard Red Bulls costing him an eyewatering 20 euros £17.09.

Having gone to the hotspot for a friend's stag @prof_thought believes some of the hefty prices were made up.

He said: "You see when they say to you, yeah that Marbella is expensive.

"Marbella is the most expensive place I have ever been to in my whole entire life as a young adult.

"I don't really think there is much point in going there.

"I just got back from marbella for my friend's stag do and some of the times, some of the purchases were made up, they didn't even make any sense.

"Two red balls, two basic customary standard Red Balls were 20 euros. In the same bar two single rum and cokes with hella ice, 36 euros.

"Now even if you are not a big drinker, even entry into a lot of these places is crazy for a standard normal young gentleman. I

"It's a 50 euro entry fee. And if you don't have a table you're just going to be stood up to the side of tables looking broke because everyone else has a table.

"Now if you want a table you're looking at anywhere between 1.2k to 1.5k for a few hours."

According to 2025 data from Numbeo, Marbella is approximately 15-20% more expensive than the Spanish national average.

Admitting Marbella is a good time @prof_thought advised those going to only go if they know someone there who can help them out with getting things a little cheaper.

He said: "Now on the other hand I have to admit Marbella is a lot of fun. There's a lot of fun to be had. It's a good time, the vibes are just right, the music's right, the DJs are good, the settings are spectacular. I take nothing away from it

"But if you don't know someone that can pattern you while you're there it's going to bankrupt you.

"In saying that that's mainly for the guys, girls can get away doing a lot more with less but if you're a guy and you're not breaded then you're going to have a very very long time there."
