A migrant fled Germany for "soft-touch" Britain after taunting the country from his tax-payer funded hotel room. The man gained a million views and 70,000 followers on TikTok by bragging about crossing the Channel in a dinghy and posting a step-by-step guide to reaching the UK.
Alexandra420, as he was known online before his account was removed for promoting people smuggling, was put in the Crowne Plaza hotel near Heathrow. The Afghan migrant hosted a Q&A in the country's Pastho dialect, and warned people they could be sent home if they went to Germany. He is believed to have spent some time in Germany and France before coming to Britain, The Sun reports.
In a livestream on TikTok, he told his followers: "Finally, I left Germany. Then they moved me into France."
He likely knew he could dodge deportation, as removals of Afghans have been paused since the Taliban came to power in 2021.
The migrant went on: "There's nothing there. Only here ... Everything in the story is about acceptance. There is no need for my attention there [Germany] any more. I came from a faraway place, aboard a ship."
Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philip responded to the investigation, calling for Labour to "get a grip" of the migrant crisis.
He said: "This illegal immigrant had multiple opportunities to claim asylum in other European countries before choosing to come here.
"The Home Office and police should be urgently investigating this man for encouraging others to enter the UK illegally and producing a step-by-step guide showing them how to cross.
"Facilitating illegal immigration is a criminal offence. Enough is enough. Everyone crossing the Channel illegally by small boat must be removed either to their home country or a safe third country. The Labour government need to get a grip of this crisis."
A TikTok spokesperson said: "We take a zero-tolerance approach to content promoting human smuggling, this account has been banned and we remove the vast majority of content before it is even reported."
