Motoring expert Jeremy Clarkson has given a two-word verdict on the news of Christian Horner being fired from Red Bull, after 20 years with the Formula 1 team. Former Top Gear presenter, Jeremy, 65, had been keeping up with the latest Grand Prix when he was asked his thoughts on the racing drama.
Posting to X (Twitter), the Clarkson's Farm star shared his thoughts, writing: "What a fantastic British Grand Prix." That was when a fan saw an opportunity to ask him about Horner's dismissal. They quizzed: "Any thoughts on Christian's departure?" Jeremy replied with just a short statement saying that it was "extremely surprising". In another post, the TV presenter acknowledged the exit directly, wishing the sports star well. He penned: "After 20 years with the team, Christian Horner departs Oracle Red Bull racing. Good luck in your future endeavour's Christian!"
Clarkson was present at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone over the weekend, and was photographed speaking to Horner on the grid. Horner, 51, was relieved of his duties this week with the team choosing to replace him with Laurent Mekies. The appointment represents a significant promotion for Mekies, who will now oversee one of Formula One's most successful operations.
The French engineer joined Racing Bulls as team principal last year after departing Ferrari in 2023, where he delivered promising results in his new role.
Red Bull managing director Oliver Mintzlaff said: "We would like to thank Christian Horner for his exceptional work over the last 20 years. With his tireless commitment, experience, expertise and innovative thinking, he has been instrumental in establishing Red Bull Racing as one of the most successful and attractive teams in Formula 1.

"Thank you for everything, Christian, and you will forever remain an important part of our team history."
During Horner's time at Red Bull, he oversaw a combined total of 14 World Championships across both drivers' and constructors' categories. The team also secured more than 107 pole positions and achieved 124 race victories with Horner at the helm.
However, over the past 18 months, Red Bull's competitiveness has dropped sharply and recent disappointing results on track had led some to speculate about potential changes at the team's leadership level.
