Most cinema-goers will have heard of It Ends With Us, which starred Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. Most recently, another Colleen Hoover novel was adapted for the big screen and stars huge names such as Scott Eastwood and Dave Franco. But fans of the writer have just discovered a lesser-known adaptation, which was released as a series in 2017. Titled Confess, the 2015 book was adapted into an Awestruck original series starring Katie Leclerc and Ryan Cooper.
The official synopsis on IMDb teases: "A 20-something girl rebuilding her life in Los Angeles and an established artist cross paths, changing each of their lives forever. Secrets from their pasts threaten to ruin their budding romance unless their love can survive the truth."
The show premiered on the streaming service Go90 and consisted of seven episodes. Those who watched the series at the time made plenty of comments on IMDb.
One viewer remarked: "This is one of the best books by Colleen Hoover. I can't wait until Ugly Love is out. And I'm excited to see all the rest of her books come to film very soon! Thanks Colleen, you're the BEST! I credit the actors that you chose to portray your the people in the story line."
A second person said: "Of course there were changes due to budget restrictions but nothing that made or break this excellent adaptation! Not only are the actors chosen to play these characters PERFECT but Colleen Hoover also made a cameo in episode 1! I seriously wish the would turn in to a longer show. THERE wasn't ENOUGH! Excellent job Go90 and Awestruck!"
A third echoed: "Great show. It has got it all, drama, romance, tragedy, conspiracy, family, moral values etc all in one season (7 odd episodes). It would be nicer if there were more intimate scenes between the main protagonists which could have been quite intense. Maybe thats why ppl prefer novels. But this is a good series."
A fourth also commented: "I love this rendition of the book Confess by Colleen Hoover!! I wish more books would do this. The main characters were amazing well known actors and acted to perfection. The opening scene made me tear up it was so heart felt and it was just the first 5 seconds!! I couldn't get enough of the movie that I watched it in a few hours all at once. I loved it!!"
