Antiques Roadshow fans are only just discovering a "forgotten" BBC show that's "just as good" as the appraisal show helmed by Fiona Bruce. Fans of shows like Bargain Hunt, Flog It! and Cash in the Attic have unearthed an "underrated" antiques game show hosted by TV royalty, Fern Britton.
The series is For What It's Worth, originally airing on BBC One in 2016. It ran for two series, welcoming three pairs of contestants who were tasked with identifying which antiques were worth a fortune and which were worth less than £10. With £2,500 up for grabs per authentic item, there was plenty to play for.
Along with quiz questions being fired at the players, they'd have to guess the value of each antique, and in a Deal or No Deal style twist at the end, they could swap their lot for one final time before having to take it home.
The show starred a familiar rotation of experts, with Kate Bliss, Charles Hanson, David Harper, Paul Laidlaw, Anita Manning, Natasha Raskin-Sharp and Charlie Ross each joining Fern to assist with their specialist knowledge.
The series is currently available to watch for free on YouTube.
Former This Morning star Fern has been candid about her money habits in the past - and though she might not have splurged on antiques, she did confess to buying a soft-top Bentley Continental GTC on a whim.
She told The Telegraph: "I was coming up to 50 and I had more money than sense. [...] But seven years later, I'd had my fun. I'm embarrassed to say how much it cost in the first place and even more embarrassed to say how much I sold it for."
She added: "I've always been careful with money [...] my personal goal is to get to my old age still being able to afford a shandy, take the kids out to lunch, have my hair done and indulge in the occasional pedicure."
