Former Indian batsman Sunil Gavaskar on Friday expressed his displeasure over fake news. He released a video from his social media handle and appealed to the fans to check the facts. He tried to focus on how many sports websites and personal accounts are giving fake statements in his name.

Gavaskar made a special appeal to the fans.

Gavaskar is currently busy covering the ongoing five-match Test series between India and England. He is part of the commentary panel and is giving moment-to-moment updates related to the match to the audience. In the video released on social media, the Indian legend has appealed to be cautious of false news and fake statements issued in his name.

'Check the facts'

Gavaskar said, 'In the last few months it has come to my notice that many sports websites and personal accounts are giving comments and quotes in my name which I have never given. I request everyone to check the veracity, check the facts, and do not believe whatever they write, especially the things coming from these personal accounts and sports websites.'

Gavaskar remains in the headlines for his statements.
Gavaskar is often in the news for his statements. Recently, he was heard saying superb-superb-superb on Rishabh Pant's century. On which the fans took him to task for his criticism of Pant on the Australia tour. Earlier, he was also seen expressing displeasure over naming the Pataudi Trophy as the Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy. He was very angry with the name of James Anderson being added with Tendulkar.
