A shocking case of domestic violence has surfaced from Ghaziabad’s Govindpuram area, where a software engineer daughter-in-law was caught on CCTV brutally thrashing her elderly mother-in-law. The disturbing footage, now viral on social media, forced police action days after the incident.
Accused Identified as Akanksha, a Resident of Delhi
The accused has been identified as Akanksha, a software professional from Delhi, married into a family residing in Ghaziabad. The incident occurred on July 1, when she reportedly arrived at her in-laws' house accompanied by her mother.
Assault Caught on Camera
CCTV footage clearly shows Akanksha and her mother chasing and repeatedly attacking the victim, Sudesh Devi. The mother-in-law is seen trying to defend herself and escape, but the duo continue the assault undeterred.
Victim Alleges Police Inaction Due to Daughter-in-Law’s Influence
According to the victim’s complaint, she had earlier approached the police, but no case was filed. She claims the inaction was due to Akanksha’s father being a sub-inspector in the Delhi Police, which led to pressure on the local authorities.
FIR Registered After Public Outcry
It was only after the CCTV video went viral and triggered public outrage that the Ghaziabad police acted. A case has now been registered against both Akanksha and her mother under relevant sections at the Govindpuram police station.
The matter has sparked widespread criticism over alleged misuse of influence and delayed justice.
