Release schedule for High Potential season two episodes as Disney Plus makes big change

A crime drama hailed 'one of the best new shows of 2024' is coming back for its second season this month.

High Potential is making a welcome return on Disney Plus from 17th September. However, the streamer has made a huge change in its release schedule for the upcoming episodes.

Viewers based in the UK were made to wait months after it was first aired in the US before they could watch it themselves. Things will be very different this time around.

The show sees It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia star Kaitlin Olson return as single mother Morgan. Not only is she juggling her hectic home life but she has an exceptional mind.

With an unconventional knack for solving crimes it lead her to an unusual and unstoppable partnership with a by-the-book seasoned detective. Now she is working full time with the LAPD to help them on their toughest cases.

Alongside Olson, other cast members back for season two include Daniel Sunjata as Karadec, Javicia Leslie as Daphne, Deniz Akdeniz as Lev “Oz” Ozdil, Amirah J as Ava, Matthew Lamb as Elliot, Steve Howey as Nick Wagner and Judy Reyes as Selena.

Reports have confirmed the synopsis and release dates for the first three episodes. They are as follows:

Episode 1 - Pawns, available September 17

While working tirelessly to shield her family from the Game Maker's threats, another crime drags Morgan back into his game and the LAPD must decide whether to trust her instincts before the next move turns fatal.

Episode 2 - Checkmate, available September 24

As the Major Crimes team seeks answers amidst a string of unresolved crimes, Morgan suspects the Game Maker is responsible. Meanwhile, Daphne and Oz set out to find Roman, and Elliot prepares a surprise act for his school's talent show.

Episode 3 - Eleven Minutes, available October 1

When a man with a troubled past is killed under mysterious circumstances, Morgan and the LAPD uncover a tragic motive behind his death. Morgan opens up to Ava about her father, forcing Ava to confront truths she isn't ready to face.

With episodes expected to release weekly each Wednesday, the release dates should be as follows. However, this has not been confirmed by Disney as of yet but it would line up if the show is to take a similar midseason break between Thanksgiving, Christmas and the New Year like it did for the first season.

  • Episode 4 - expected release October 8
  • Episode 5 - expected release October 15
  • Episode 6 - expected release October 22
  • Episode 7 - expected release October 29
  • Episode 8 - expected release November 5
  • Episode 9 - expected release November 12

It is reported that High Potential season two should consist in total of 18 episodes. This is an increase from last time, and the second half could also release from January 2026. Although this also is yet to be confirmed.
