'Masterpiece' drama 'even better than All Creatures' is now streaming for free

Period drama enthusiasts are in for a treat with a hidden gem now available for free streaming, which some viewers are hailing as a "masterpiece" and even "superior to All Creatures Great and Small."

The Hardacres, based on CL Skelton's novels, has been subtly gaining fans with its blend of family drama, social ambition, and Yorkshire tenacity. Set in the 1890s, the series follows the journey of the Hardacre family, who start off as dock workers in a harsh northern town before striking gold and attempting to infiltrate the landed gentry.

However, while they may have wealth, what they lack is acceptance - something that proves more difficult to purchase. At the heart of it all is Mary Hardacre, who yearns for recognition from the established county set but quickly realises that old money looks down on new.
