'Let's see what happens' Arsenal transfer hint dropped as Chloe Kelly speaks out

Chloe Kelly has refused to confirm that she has told they are in prime position for her signature but the England winger looks likely to sign a permanent contract with the winners.

Kelly spent the second half of last season on loan at Arsenal from and helped them achieve memorable European success. The 27-year-old becomes a free agent at the end of this month and is believed to have given Arsenal a period of exclusivity in which to come up with a deal.

Kelly is now in the England camp, preparing for the women’s Euros and she said: “I’m just allowing my representatives to do the work behind the scenes. My focus is solely on England. No matter whether it’s done or not, my focus is solely on the tournament ahead.

“Arsenal took me from a really dark place and gave me an opportunity but we achieved incredible things together, so let’s see what happens.”

Kelly fell out of favour at City, making just one appearance last season but she scored twice and produced six assists in 13 appearances for Arsenal, the club where she started her senior career. And she clearly loved working with Renee Slegers, saying: “She’s just a great manager, I learnt so much on the pitch and off the pitch from her.

“She’s a great person and to come away with a Champions League is incredible. She gave me belief and confidence and I will always be grateful for her.”

And Kelly’s resurgence at Arsenal earned her a place in ’s squad for the Euros and has put her in the perfect frame of mind for the tournament, which kicks off at the start of next month in Switzerland.

Kelly went on: “I’m very happy. It was incredible to win the Champions League. It was an incredible moment for English sport and English women’s sport - and it’s made us very excited for the Euros now.

“I feel like I’ve grown so much from being at Arsenal. Every day I was learning from a great manager in Renee and to be here now is an incredible honour. You never take for granted playing for your country, so I knew that I needed to get minutes and work hard to be able to be in this position.”
