Khandwa (Madhya Pradesh): A fruit trader was shot dead in Khandwa's Borgaon Bujurg village early Saturday morning. The incident occurred around 4 am while deceased Amin Khan was sleeping with his ex-wife and children.
The attacker entered their home and fired shots, waking the family with a sound similar to a firecracker. When they discovered Amin bleeding from his ear and head, they rushed him to the district hospital, but doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
The police arrived at the scene and found bullet shells, but the weapon used in the crime was not located. Investigators are working to determine who fired the shots and the motive behind the attack.
There are rumours that the shooting may be linked to a love affair, but neither the family nor the police have confirmed this. Amin had four children and operated a fruit cart in the local market. He had divorced his wife, Shahnaz, but she returned to live with him a few months ago after a brief marriage to another man.
Before the shooting, the attacker reportedly locked the doors of nearby houses to prevent anyone from coming out after the gunfire. Neighbours heard the noise but found themselves trapped in their house until a passerby helped them.
ASP Mahendra Taranekar stated that a murder case has been filed and the investigation is ongoing. Authorities believe more than one person may be involved in the crime. Meanwhile, the ex-husband of Amin's wife has been taken into custody by Maharashtra Police as part of the investigation.
