In a shocking case of corruption, Chandrakant Chavan, the Chief Officer of Majalgaon Municipal Council, was caught red-handed by the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) while accepting a bribe of Rs 6 lakh on Thursday at around 9pm at his residence in Majalgaon.
Chavan had allegedly demanded a total bribe of Rs 12 lakh from a contractor to approve certain government-related files.
After verifying the complaint, the ACB laid a trap. The operation took place on Thursday at around 9pm at Chavan’s rented residence in Pitaji Nagari, Majalgaon, where he was caught accepting part of the demanded bribe.

Based on a complaint filed with the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar ACB, a trap was arranged. During the operation, the ACB team, led by Keshav Dinde, head of the unit, apprehended Chavan on the spot. A search of his residence was underway till late at night. This incident has caused a major stir in Majalgaon city.
Raids by Beed ACB Team
Following the action by the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar unit, the Beed ACB was immediately informed. Two teams from Beed were promptly dispatched to conduct a search operation at Chavan’s other properties.
