Kerala Police have registered a case against Malayalam TV personality and social media influencer Akhil Marar over a video he shared online. The video is said to contain anti-national remarks.
An officer at Kottarakkara police station confirmed on Wednesday that the case has been filed under Section 152 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). This section deals with actions that can harm the unity, sovereignty, and integrity of India. It is a non-bailable offence.
The complaint was made by Anish Kizhakkekkara, a local BJP leader from Kottarakkara. He said that the video posted by Marar had statements that went against the nation.
Police said they have started an investigation. Since the video has now been deleted, they said it will need to be recovered before they can take the next steps.
