Sharjah residents can now subscribe for gas, water and electricity rentals online through an automated lease contract attestation service. Sharjah Municipality has announced the activation of the new digital service in collaboration with the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA), eliminating the need for customers to complete prior procedures such as paying electricity deposits or visiting concerned authorities.
The new service, launched through electronic integration with government entities across the emirate, is part of the municipality’s digital transformation strategy to enhance customer experience and streamline service delivery.
Abdullah Ali Al Shaheel, Director of the Rental Regulation Department at Sharjah Municipality, described the initiative as “a qualitative leap in simplifying procedures and shortening the customer journey for lease contract attestation of all types."

Streamlined processThrough electronic integration and the unified system, the attestation process is now completed based on data and transactions available in the municipality’s system.
The attested contract is then automatically transferred to SEWA, after which the customer receives a text message with the required electricity deposit fees. Once payment is completed, the service is connected.
The transformation reflects the municipality’s commitment to providing a distinguished customer experience through simplified and flexible transaction processing that saves time and effort, aligning with Sharjah’s vision for digital transformation and procedure simplification.
“This unified electronic integration between government entities has become an effective contributor to completing the largest number of transactions in record time, providing a successful experience for customers and enhancing their satisfaction levels with the services provided,” he noted.

Aqari platform integrationThe simplified steps for lease contract attestation and electricity service connection can be completed through the Aqari platform, which serves as a distinguished model for government digital services in the real estate sector.
Al Shaheel highlighted that the municipality has worked continuously with the Sharjah Digital Department and SEWA to achieve this milestone and continue working towards complete digital transformation in service delivery.
