Messenger Desktop App: Facebook-owned Meta has taken a major step. This decision will be a major setback for Messenger users. The Messenger desktop app is being discontinued for Windows and Mac starting December 15th. According to a report, after the specified date, users will no longer be able to use the Messenger app on their laptops. Users who want to use the Messenger app on their laptops will be redirected directly to Facebook's website. If you've been using Messenger on your laptop, be prepared for significant changes.

According to a TechCrunch report, Meta has announced that those using Messenger on their desktops will receive a notification informing them that support will be discontinued after December 15th. The company has also advised users to delete the app, as it will no longer be usable. It's important to note that the app will continue to function on smartphones as before. While most people have been using Messenger on their smartphones, there are also several people who use the app on laptops and desktops.

What will be the options now?
According to reports, Windows and Mac users who use the Messenger app will have some new options. They can use Facebook on their desktop or access Messenger online, i.e., as a website, but the app will not be available.

How to save chat history?
Meta has provided guidance for users who use the Messenger app on Windows and Mac. Such users can save their chat history. They will need to activate Secure Storage before accessing the web version and set a PIN to save their chat history. Once the PIN is set, users will access the web version, and their chat history will be available there, meaning their chats will be kept secure.

Try these steps as well.
Secure Storage needs to be activated to save your chat history. To check if it's activated, click the Settings icon. Then, go to Privacy & Safety and select End-to-End Encryption. You'll see a message storage option there. Click on it and then turn on "Turn on Secure Storage."
